Baton Rouge is the place to be for America’s birthday. Downtown will play host to events all day, starting with the BASF Freedom Mile at 7:30 a.m. that begins on River Road near the USS Kidd. The USS Kidd Freedom Festival kicks off at 11 a.m. and includes patriotic music throughout the day, a flag ceremony, music from Rosie and the Swingin’ Riveters at 1:30 p.m., games, food and much more. Get more information here. The annual Fireworks on the Mississippi display starts at 9 p.m.
More Fourth of July activities will take place throughout downtown. Patriotic movies and music will play all day at North Boulevard Town Square. First Baptist Church (629 Convention St.) hosts a Festival of Freedom at 6 p.m. The LSU Museum of Art and Tsunami host the 10th annual Red, White and the Blues event at 7 p.m.-10 p.m. More information and tickets are available here.
