A nation of genetically evolved apes is on course to take over the world in this new movie. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the 2011 surprise hit reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, lands in theaters Friday. Andy Serkis returns with another winning motion-capture performance as Caesar, leader of the apes. Gary Oldman stars as the human race’s leader, Dreyfus, who is set on reestablishing power. This sequel has an all-star cast, including Keri Russell, Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Like its predecessor, Dawn is generating positive buzz well ahead of its release date, tracking well above 90% (out of a possible 100%) at the review site Rotten Tomatoes. Matt Reeves, who previously directed Cloverfield and Let Me In, is behind the camera here and has already signed on to shoot the third Planet of the Apes film in this series. Rated PG-13.
