LSU Food Incubator gets grant for new equipment

The LSU AgCenter Food Incubator received a $25,000 grant from the Louisiana Economic Development Business Incubation Support Program. The incubator was one of seven Louisiana business incubators to receive a grant, and the funds will be used to purchase more efficient processing equipment, according to a press release. The equipment will enable food companies using the incubator to create more product per day, says Director Gaye Sandoz.

The incubator also purchased a 60-gallon kettle, and the LSU School of Human Ecology recently donated unused kitchen equipment.

Among some of the food products that have come from the AgCenter’s program are Hanley’s Foods, Delightful Palate and Re: dressings and marinades. For more information on the incubator program, click here.—Matthew Sigur
