Visit local parking spots transformed into tiny parks for the day

Baton Rouge will take part in PARK(ing) Day, an annual global event where community members temporarily transform parking spaces into public places. The event runs 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, and the Center for Planning Excellence has partnered with several local businesses to create 16 parklets downtown and across the city. The idea behind the event is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, improving the quality of life for residents. Among some of the locations for PARK(ing) Day is the Radio Bar parking lot at 3079 Government St., which will have a parklet open until 7 p.m. Get more information and RSVP.
