When you’re not used to working out, exercising can be challenging. Here are some pain-free tips to integrate workouts into your life:
CDC recommends:
• 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity per day for adults
• An hour or more of moderate to vigorous activity daily for children
Tips for starting and sticking to an exercise regimen:
• Don’t prescribe yourself a workout that’s too difficult for your fitness level
• Do exercise you enjoy (i.e., swimming, running)
• Split up activity in five-or-10-minute bouts that will add up to half an hour or more
Tips for exercising at work or on the move:
• Take breaks from sitting down at work; stand or walk around
• Park farther from your destination and walk the rest of the way to get more steps in
• Get off elevators a few floors down from your destination and take the stairs the rest of the way up
• Consider investing in a standing desk or a treadmill desk
