Nino’s gets a modern Italian makeover

Husband-and-wife team Elton and Randee Hyndman bought Nino’s Italian Restaurant on Bluebonnet two weeks ago and gave it a complete makeover. “We started with a clean slate, threw out the old menu and started from scratch,” says Elton Hyndman, who was a chef in Seattle, New Mexico and Wisconsin, “No more 1985 red sauce.” The couple moved to Baton Rouge two years, and this is their first restaurant ownership. Menu items are healthier and include signature panini dishes, pepper Onata salad, a veggie-heavy crabcake and a fresh squash lasagna. Nino’s new hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. —Rebecca Breeden
