By Rebecca Breeden

Tonight's Metro Council agenda includes an item by Councilman Byron Sharper to investigate the Baton Rouge Police Department's policies and procedures with regard to the mayor's security detail.

The Metro Council or any sub-committee has the right to investigate any official conduct within the BRPD, including written records and witness accounts. Sharper will ask for the appointment of a Metro Council committee to conduct the investigation.

Tune into the action after 4 p.m. on cable channel 21 or click here for live streaming video. Of course, you can always catch the live show in the council chambers on the third floor of the Governmental Building downtown.

Byron Sharper and Wayne Carter made a valid point during this meeting. Not only was Mayor Holden's Reputation tarnished, but their reputations as well have been tarnished by the suspect scrutiny from the media and mayor himself. Mary Olive Pierson (Holden's Attorney) stated that whoever sent this mailer out, paid approx. $11,000 for this mailer. Unfortuantely, not too many suspects would have the monetary means or the motivation to send out such a mailer - which puts the suspect spotlight on a small few. We have all been there at one time - to be falsely accused or suspected of something you did not do - is an awful feeling - the more you try to prove your innocence - the more guilty you look - it really sucks!
