Heritage Ranch, a children’s home located in Zachary, will host its second-ever barbecue Cook-Off for the Kids Saturday, April 18, 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
Organizers with the event say around 10 teams will be participating. The cook-off consists of four categories—brisket, pork butt, ribs and a wild card category where teams can cook whatever they like. Judges include Jay Ducote of Bite & Booze, Ryan André of City Pork Brasserie and Bar, Teresa Day and Travis Stringer of Mansurs on the Boulevard.

The River City Band will provide the music, and the kids’ activities have been expanded this year to include a mini petting zoo and pie-eating contest.
Tickets are $10. Children ages 12 and younger get in free. A ticket gets you entry as well as all-you-can-eat barbecue and a vote for people’s choice favorite. Heritage Ranch is located at 20090 Tucker Road.
The event benefits Heritage Ranch, which is scheduled to open its doors this July. For more information, call 658-1800.
