Coursey Boulevard has a new seafood restaurant.
Boil & Roux, a crawfish and oyster bar, has opened at 11777 Coursey Blvd., the former location of Portico, which closed last year.
“Maurice Walker is the entrepreneur behind the venture,” Stephanie Riegel writes in last Friday’s edition of Daily Report. “He has worked in restaurant kitchens before, most recently at Ralph and Kacoo’s, but has never owned his own restaurant.”

Boil & Roux’s menu features chargrilled oysters and crawfish étoufées as well as home-style dishes like fried chicken, meatloaf and catfish specials. The menu also lists poboys, burgers and sandwiches. Each dish is around $12-$15.
“I grew up in a family that enjoys cooking, and I love to cook,” Walker told Riegel last week. “I think it’s fun to see the different directions people take with a dish.”
