Here: Baton Rouge public school English teacher

There: Manager of four shoe stores in Pensacola, Fla.

When did you leave Baton Rouge?

My wife and our two sons left May 23rd, last day of the school year—right after the last bell rang, basically.

What do you miss?

Hanging out with our friends in the Poets and Philosophers neighborhood (area that includes Ovid, Pericles, Cato streets, etc, off Perkins Road), getting consistently good live music at Chelsea’s Café, and a few granitas from Perk’s per week.

What don’t you miss?

Sweltering hot summers with no relief.

What does your new city have that you wish Baton Rouge had?

The Gulf of Mexico close by and a steady breeze blowing in from the bay.

What’s essential when you come back to visit?

Have beers and a bunch of fried food at the Chimes. In the fall, obviously, a full day of tailgating will be essential.

When you were in town last?

A few weeks ago (July) for a wedding.
