Last spring a New Orleans-based group began importing Hindi and Telugu language films for screenings in several Gulf Coast cities, including Baton Rouge. In June, The Grand Cinema on George O’Neal Road showed Sarkar Raj, kind of like Godfather II if it were set in Mumbai. After a break for what the Web site called “summer holidays and good Hollywood movies,” the occasional Indian series is expected to return this month. Screenings are posted—often on short notice—at neworleanscinema.com.
