Albert Hammond Jr.

Albert Hammond Jr.

Como Te Llama. Muppet-haired Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. releases his highly secretive second solo album July 8. This follows last year’s surprisingly good Yours to Keep, a sunny, shoes-off pop rock record with enough of his old band’s guitar gusto and ’70s condensation—this owed no doubt to the genes of his father, a hit singer-songwriter from the era—to herald a promising indie rock career for this sideman while The Strokes figure out what to do with themselves next.

McCain declines Secret Service. The Onion comes correct with this eye-popping report on ways Sen. John McCain would cut spending as commander in chief. Replacing debates with a fight-to-the-death jungle survival competition? Chances are Obama will decline.
