Cupcake Allie to open in November

Baton Rouge will get more sweet treats once Cupcake Allie opens in November in the Acadian-Perkins Plaza shopping center next door to Uncle Earl’s.

Cupcake Allie comes from Allison “Allie” Offner, who specializes in gourmet cupcakes and dessert wines and liquors. Offner says she’ll have traditionally flavored cupcakes such as red velvet and wedding cake as well as sweet potato bourbon and an entire line of alcohol-infused cakes. In addition to the storefront, Offner will also have a food truck ready to hit the road.

Offner has always enjoyed baking, she says, and this business is five years in the making.

“This definitely seems like it’s been a long time coming,” she says. “I always loved baking cupcakes because they’re pint-sized and portable. I had a party with some friends over one day, and they loved them. They were bringing them home and then started placing orders for future events. So I thought, ‘Maybe this is something I could make a career out of.'”

She had worked as a corporate flight attendant for three years to give herself flexibility to keep working on the storefront in her spare time. Just last week, Offner was able to clear her schedule and become a full-time cupcake baker. “I’m 100% Cupcake Allie now,” she says.

She has big plans for the grand opening, but the date isn’t set in stone. However, patrons can expect the store to open “sometime in November,” she says. The store’s hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
