Welcome back to the Swamp, People! (Get it?) Sorry I’ve been away these past few weeks, but not to worry—if you’re anything like me, you’ve caught a mini-marathon in preparation for last night’s season finale, and you’re ready to nail these gators to the wall. Go ahead and hop in your airboat time machine and travel back to “King of the Swamp”.
RJ has been trying all season to best Troy Landry and usurp his throne as “King of the Swamp.” With a record-setting five hundred tags to fill this gator season, he truly is sitting pretty, despite his claim of being an underdog his whole life: “They can talk about my braid, they can talk about my skin color, but I’m proud because I know who I am.”
But while RJ is conducting his two-airboat assault to ascend the swamp throne, Troy Landry is concerned not for his crown, but for his subjects, specifically the family of his friend and fellow alligatorer Julius Gaudet, who just died, leaving behind his partner, Rebel, and forty tags to fill. Did I mention there are only four days left in gator season? Troy, magnanimous monarch that he is, risks his own own season to fill the remaining tags for Rebel and the late Mr. Julius, earning him not just respect, but also popularity among the plebeians.
