Scuttlebutt: Goodbye, Leo Verde; Piccadilly comeback?
The longtime GM at Sullivan’s Steakhouse moves to Dallas next week to work at Del Frisco’s, and his right-hand man Frankie Savoy moves into the No. 1 spot at Sully’s. Loyal (and not-so-loyal) patrons can bid farewell to Leo this Friday night, as he’ll be shaking hands and kissing babies. Expect a special presentation from Mayor Kip Holden, as well as back-up from the generous folks at Mockler Beverage. 9 p.m. to midnight-ish.Word on the street is that Piccadilly Cafeteria is eying locations in downtown Baton Rouge, including the Kress building at Third and Main. The original Piccadilly Cafeteria was housed in the Mayer Hotel on Third Street, the same building where Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s is now. It was a dining hotspot for shoppers in the late 1940s and ’50s (ask anyone you know from the Greatest Generation about Third Street’s shopping heyday).
