This week in Baton Rouge: A pajama party, disco trivia, karaoke and more

Have sew much fun on Monday and Thursday

Head over to Webb Park for Sharp as a Needle, a dynamic sewing event that welcomes sewing enthusiasts of all levels.

Whether you’re a novice or have experience, this sewing class is tailored for you. Discover the world of sewing as BREC’s skilled instructor guides participants through understanding sewing machines, their functions, and operation, while exploring diverse patterns and materials to craft unique individual projects.

The recurring event is free and takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. Webb Park is located at 1351 Country Club Drive.


Snuggle up on Wednesday

Pack the stuffies and don your PJs en route to Jones Creek Regional Library for a Pajama Party Movie Night this Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The library will offer a special screening of Tangled for kids ages 8 to 11 and their families to unwind after the busy start of the school year. Kids are invited to bring a blanket and stuffed animals to the screening.

The Pajama Party Movie Night runs from 6:15-8 p.m. in the Children’s Room.  The event is free and registration is not required. Jones Creek Regional Library is at 6222 Jones Creek Road.


Belt it out on Wednesday

Chelsea’s Live is bringing back its ever-popular Shut Up & Sing Karaoke this Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Host Mookie Darden will invite the inner musical artists in us all to perform karaoke hits onstage at the popular venue. Drink specials will include $3.50 domestic cans, $5 wells and $6 drafts.

Entry is free from 8-9 p.m. and increases to $5 after 9 p.m. This event is 18 and up. Chelsea’s Live is at 1010 Nicholson Drive.


Test your disco knowledge Thursday 

Tin Roof Brewery’s trivia night goes back in time this Thursday, Aug. 17.

The brewery takes on a ’70s theme this week for Trivia Night Disco, hosted by Let’s Get Quizzical Trivia. Head to the taproom to test your knowledge of all things go-go boots and Saturday Night Fever while sipping craft beers and enjoying bar grub.

Questions start at 6:30 p.m. and trivia is free to play. Tin Roof is at 1624 Wyoming St.


Jam out on Thursday

Indulge in the harmonious melodies of an original singer-songwriter while savoring select wines, refreshing ice-cold beer, delectable dining and tempting gelato when La Divina presents Daniel Lee Comeaux, Thursday, Aug. 17.

Comeaux is an accomplished musician celebrated for his expansive vocal range, poetic lyricism and innovative musical compositions.

Comeaux takes the stage at 6 p.m. La Divina is at 3535 Perkins Road, Suite 360.
