Baton Rouge beverages worth sippin’

Back in June, we started a 225 Dine series celebrating some of Baton Rouge’s most interesting cocktails, teas, lemonades and other refreshing drinks. Our hope was to help readers discover new ways to cool off and inspire them to switch up their drink orders.

Here’s a recap of some highlights.

Visit 225batonrouge.com/food to check out the full series.

Made with fresh watermelon, lime juice, mint, simple syrup and Kicking Mule rum, there’s a little trick behind the bar that gives this drink a deeper flavor: marinating.
The watermelon is marinated in a mixture of rum, sugar and mint to pull out its flavor.

This shake is a riff on the classic dessert blended with Creole cream cheese ice cream and topped with a dash of cinnamon, making every sip a blast of all that we love about the down-home concoction.

One of six drinks on the tiki drink section of the Olive or Twist menu, it mixes two types of rum, Velvet Falernum liqueur, cloves, pear-habañero syrup, and orange, lime, papaya and pomegranate juices. Nine ingredients mean you can barely taste the rum in this fruity drink.

The bite of the crisp, fruity wine meets the refreshing texture and temperature of a slushie. It’s even available by the gallon, so you can sip it poolside.
