Beer crawl on Corporate Boulevard

Beer taps at Corporate Brew & Draft. Photo by Collin Richie

The Citiplace Court area off Corporate Boulevard has become a surprisingly stellar spot to imbibe. The otherwise sleepy shopping center is home to three beer-centric bars. You can check out the taps at one bar and walk to the next with ease. Just have a designated driver or an Uber waiting for you at your last stop.

Corporate Brew & Draft

The newest addition to the shopping center bills itself as a beer garden (although it’s not technically outdoors) and an arcade (it definitely has that). But the bright dining hall lights inside shouldn’t deter you from stopping in for brews.

With a knowledgeable bar staff, around 120 beers on tap, a beer menu that’s thankfully easy to navigate, and a clientele that likely has its Ph.D. in beer, you might learn a thing or two here. Try a beer flight if you want to experience a range of varieties.

The Cove

The older brother to CBD, The Cove, is just a few steps away. It’s been around a while and has become the secret, dimly lit hideout for serious beer and whiskey drinkers in the city. How serious? We’re talking booklets of tasting notes for the library of liquors on hand.

Owner Tom Ange has created a bar with a hefty cocktail menu and a staff of bartenders who spend their downtime creating their own bitters and simple syrups.

Separate from the main bar area is a smaller beer bar with around 30 beers on tap, a rotating menu of seasonal beers and an expert staff ready to pour.

The Pelican House

Since opening about two years ago, The Pelican House has slowly expanded its offerings. It now has live music on the weekends, pool tables and a revamped food menu featuring unique bar fare such as pork belly grilled cheese sandwiches and braised duck nachos.

We still don’t understand why it serves “Freedom Fries,” but that’s OK. The raised lounge seating at the back of the bar is cozy, the beer selection is plentiful and the spacious interior and outdoor patio mean that even on a crowded night, it still feels like a comfortable hangout.
