El Paso Mexican Grill celebrates Cinco De Mayo with all-day festival Friday

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with food, drinks and live music at El Paso Mexican Grill’s Cinco De Mayo Festival on Friday, May 5, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

The all-day event includes live performances by Pato Son Mandado, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and Nashville Star finalist David St. Romain, 7-11 p.m.

Tin Roof Brewery and Gov’t Taco to host Cinco Cinco Cinco event Friday

Get a taste of Jay Ducote’s upcoming taco joint Gov’t Taco along with beer and live music at Tin Roof Brewery’s Cinco Cinco Cinco event on Friday, May 5, 5-10 p.m.

At the event, guests can enjoy live music by Mariachi Jalisco, drink Tin Roof Brewery beers and sample Gov’t Taco’s unique tacos with ingredients like molasses mustard fried catfish, stir-fried eggplant and kimchi mayo, or pulled pork with jicama. Their spicy, grilled street corn has gained some local popularity, too.

Lava Cantina Perkins Rowe hosts a weekend of Cinco de Mayo-themed events

The party starts early at Lava Cantina.

Thursday, May 4, 9 p.m. to midnight, the restaurant will hold its Pre-Cinco Party, featuring drinks, food and a performance by Ovi-G Froggies. The following day, 7 p.m.-2 a.m., the restaurant will celebrate with $5 appetizers and margaritas, a performance by Werewolf, and Bootywerk closing the night at its Cinco de Mayo Party.

For those looking to keep the party going on Saturday, the restaurant hosts Box Office Giants, 9 p.m.-midnight.


Chef Mia Taylor offers up second dinner in her Ipseity Pop-Up series Friday

Enjoy an evening of fine dining and conversation at Chef Mia Taylor’s #FishPlateFriday event, the second dinner of her Ipseity Pop-Up Dinner Series on Friday, May 5, 7-10 p.m. at The Red Shoes.

At the event, guests will dine on a three-course meal including a take on potato salad, seared black drum with roasted corn maque choux and lemon olive oil cake with strawberries and lemon buttermilk ice cream. Wine will also be served.

LAHomebrew hosts National Homebrew Day Celebration Saturday

Celebrate National Homebrew Day a day early at LA Homebrew’s National Homebrew Day celebration Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

At the all-day event, guests can watch and help LA Homebrew’s brewers make batches of beer and eat lunch at noon.
