Dine Roundup: Latte art, endless fondue and more food events

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Trivia Night Wednesday

The popular comedy had a solid nine-season run, and with the rise of streaming services has only gained even more fans since it ended in 2014. That being said, the competition at “How I Met Your Mother” Trivia Night Wednesday, Aug. 29, is sure to be stiff.

It’s time to channel the confidence of Barney and assemble your teams to ensure you take home the first-place prize once the clock strikes 10:30 p.m. If you end up being a few points shy from first, though, don’t worry. Second and third place also win prizes.

You’ll also want to register here, and participating will cost $10 per person (cash, please). The challenge takes place at Barcadia at 3347 Highland Road, 8-10:30 p.m.

Brace yourself for a Latte Art Throwdown Thursday

We’ve all seen photos of latte art clogging our Instagram feeds. Some of us may have even been to a latte art competition around town. But you probably haven’t seen one quite like this.

Rêve Coffee Lab at White Star Market (4624 Government St.) will be hosting its Latte Art Throwdown with a twist Thursday, Aug. 30, 7-9 p.m. The twist? You might just have to think outside your classic ceramic cup and pour your creations into various containers. We’re talking pitchers, ladles and more.

Those who dare to participate can do so for $5 and should come early and sign up. Anyone is free to watch. We’re sure you’ll be on the edge of your seats if you do.

Head down to Denham Springs for some adults-only crafts Friday

Sometimes you need to let off some steam. Sometimes you need to express yourself. Other times you need to do both, and Foul Mouth Pottery Painting will provide exactly the avenue to do just that.

Brushfire Studios will be hosting a pottery painting for those 18 and older Friday, Aug. 31, 6:30-9:30 p.m. You will buy a pottery piece of your choosing (and with a selection of more than 200, you won’t be short on options) and then decorate it however you heart desires. You can pick it up seven-10 business days later.

You can BYOB, and Brushfire may just provide snacks. The event will take place at 125 N Range Ave., Suite D, in Denham Springs. Register and pay the $5 deposit fee here.

Endless Fondue Labor Day Weekend Thursday

In case last year’s Capital City Mac Fest and the recent arrival of The Big Cheezy didn’t make it clear enough, Baton Rougeans can devour some cheese. That’s why you’ll be pleased to hear of a ridiculously cheesy way to spend your work holiday: Endless Fondue Labor Day Weekend at The Melting Pot from Thursday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 3.

All weekend long, 5-10 p.m., you’ll be able to embark on the journey of deliciousness that is the Meat-Lover’s Endless Fondue Feast. The meal includes your choice of fondue, endless salad and an endless meaty entree (we’re talking steak, chicken and shrimp, people), and—most importantly—endless chocolate fondue. Wow, that was a mouthful (literally).

Those who aren’t scared of a possible food coma should head down to The Melting Pot at 5294 Corporate Blvd., and you’ll definitely want to make reservations in advance.
