Crispy Catch planning for beer, wine sales

The owners of Crispy Catch are planning some minor renovations to their outside patio in the Perkins Road overpass area that should clear the final hurdle for the restaurant to obtain a license to begin selling beer and wine.

Tyler Pizzolato, a co-owner of the restaurant at 3109 Perkins Road that opened in March, says city-parish officials have informed him the restaurant either must add additional toilets in its restrooms or reduce floor space in order to meet alcohol permit requirements.

Pizzolato says the restaurant is opting to remove some tables on the patio and add a bar in the center of it—moves he says should satisfy the requirements. Renovations will begin soon, he adds.

“It’s the only way to get around it without having to add more plumbing,” Pizzolato says.

P.F. Chang’s hosts Breast Cancer Awareness event

The Baton Rouge P.F. Chang’s will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Month kickoff event Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m.

In honor of people impacted by the disease, the restaurant will adorn its Warrior Horses with pink wreaths and create a “Ribbon of Hope” made of breast cancer ribbons dedicated to people impacted by the disease.

Free Jicama Street Tacos will be provided at the event.

P.F. Chang’s is launching a month-long campaign to donate $100,000 to the American Cancer Society. From Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, Baton Rougeans can donate in two ways.

For every Jicama Street Taco purchase, $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Diners can also share a photo with the warrior horses on Twitter or Instagram and hashtag #PFChangsPink or upload a photo to the P.F. Chang’s Facebook page. Each photo shared results in a $1 donation.

Tio Javis / Baton Rouge food newsTio Javi’s (formerly Ninfa’s) selects new logo

After about a month of online voting, Tio Javi’s selects its new logo.

225 previously reported that Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant was in the process of rebranding as Tio Javi’s Fresh Mex Bar and Grill and was asking Baton Rougeans to help pick a logo.

The name change won’t result in any changes to the former Ninfa’s food or drink recipes, general manager Javier Pallais promises.
