How to donate food during Hunger Action Month

Throughout September, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is hosting a food drive to honor Trevor Sims, a Baton Rouge resident who died from cancer in October 2013.

Sims was diagnosed with terminal cancer when he was 10. His dying wish—to feed the hungry—led to the community-wide food drive known as Trevor’s Wish.

Since 2013, the drive has collected more than 53,000 pounds of food and more than $110,000 in donations. All proceeds from the drive go directly to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, which serves 11 parishes (Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana).

Four easy ways to help out:

• Donate food at Baton Rouge Raising Cane’s locations.
• Collect and donate food items at participating CC’s locations.
• Host a food drive with friends, coworkers or family and give items to the food bank.
• Donate online by filling out this form.

The drive continues through Sept. 30.
