Walk-On’s kicked off 2016 with a savory start, introducing its new burger-of-the-month concept in January—a smoked Gouda and apple-wood bacon turkey burger.
For February: a pizza burger.
Yes, it’s as oddball as it sounds, and yes, it fits every definition of extreme.

The burger features a half-pound patty topped with fried mozzarella sticks, spicy red peppadew and three giant pepperoni nestled inside a buttery brioche bun. It comes with a small bowl of marinara sauce for dipping, almost insinuating you’ll have to take the burger apart. I was wary of the pizza sauce-and-hamburger combination, but drizzled some marinara on the burger in place of ketchup and was pleasantly surprised at the combination. The mozzarella sticks were mouth-watering on their own, and a toasted brioche bun is great for any burger.
I tried eating it whole and then by fork and knife before I resulted to dissecting it to enjoy it as finger food.
The pizza burger might look like clogged arteries waiting to happen, but it is both tasty and fun to eat, so get yours before they’re gone on Feb. 29.

The restaurant has locations at 3838 Burbank Drive and 7425 Corporate Blvd., Suite 10. Both locations are open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday-Saturday.
225 created a monthly feature for 2015 called “Extreme Burgers” where we highlighted unique and over-the-top burger creations from local restaurants. After the series wrapped, we decided to employ some moderation for the sake of our health and highlight new burgers only we deem them worthy of the title “extreme.” Look for this occasional feature in upcoming issues of 225 Dine.
