Get into the Halloween spirit with spooky fall cocktails from Baton Rouge bars

Halloween tends to be all about the kids these days. And with their adorable tiny costumes and the pure joy when they call out “trick or treat,” we get why. But with these Halloween- and fall-themed cocktails, adults are more than welcome to celebrate the spookiest season of the year, as well. We’ve compiled a few seasonal drinks from around town to help you get started.

A haunted cocktail assortment at Olive or Twist: Bar + Kitchen

One of the most controversial Halloween sweets of all time—candy corn—ventures into the field of adult beverages with the Candy Corn Old Fashioned, using a house-made candy corn syrup. Or, prepare to be transported back to your childhood with the Count Chocula cereal milk concoction. Oh, and, those looking to prep themselves for Thanksgiving in liquid form may be interested in the Pumpkin Pie cocktail with pumpkin spice vodka, Rum Chata, pure pumpkin puree and condensed milk.

A fresh batch of persimmons arrived Friday and will be ripe just in time for the Beausoleil bar staff to add to margaritas or bourbon smash just in time for Halloween. It pairs nicely with crisp breezes, we’ve heard.

Chocolate Mule at Provisions on Perkins

This past weekend featured loads of costume parties, but it also marked the debut of the Chocolate Mule. This eerie cocktail includes Jameson, Godiva Dark Chocolate, Amaretto and lime juice with half Guinness/half ginger beer to top it off. The item will be offered until the end of December for those with a sweet tooth that surpasses the traditional Halloween parameters.

Available now through winter, this charcoal gin sour contains fresh lemon, simple syrup and an egg white, topped with a blood orange slice. Best served in the dead of the night, obviously.

If you want a drink that tastes the way fall weather feels, The Radio Bar has five new cocktails from its seasonal menu to help you emulate fall even when the weather can’t make up its mind.

The Astoria will take you back to the days of bobbing for apples with apple coriander maple shrub and apple bitters, cognac and cardamom syrup. Fans of blackberry pie may want to try a sip of the Blackberry Fizz with sparkling wine or the tequila-based The Cortez—both contain blackberry liqueur. The Mandala brings a mixture of vodka, brandy and chai tea to the table, while The Carousel features rye whiskey, lemon and Angostura bitters.
