Halloween events in Baton Rouge with great food and drinks

Baton Rouge is good at celebrating, and Halloween is no exception


Check out the schedule of events below to see where you can indulge in the Capital City for the 2015 Halloween weekend.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Paddle around University Lakes in the dark in support of Baton Rouge Food Bank at BREC’s Pumpkin Paddle Parade. The paddle starts at Milford J. Wampold Park. Guests are encouraged to decorate their boats with lights and bring voluntary contributions for the Baton Rouge Food Bank. 5:45 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Blend hosts a Halloween-themed wine dinner complete with coconut and spiced rum cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and live music. 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Purchase tickets by calling 757-5645 or emailing [email protected].

The Baton Rouge Police Department’s 2nd Annual Boo With the Blue will feature food, a haunted house, games, a costume contest and candy. The event is 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at BRPD Public Safety Complex.

Friday, Oct. 30

Galatoire’s Bistro hosts a Friday Before Halloween lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Halloween costumes are welcome. Call Galatoire’s at 753-4864 to make reservations.

Put on your costume and sip some butterbeer at Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s Harry Potter-themed Halloween Night at the Museum. Guests can try the classic drink at the museum’s “Leaky Cauldron” and enjoy planetarium showings of “The Astronomical World of Harry Potter.” The shows will be followed by Halloween- and Pink Floyd-themed laser light shows. Laser light shows are $5 for members or $7 for non-members, and all other activities are free. The party begins at 6:30 p.m.

Dress up and dance at Zombie Prom 7 at Brickyard South. The night’s complete with free cover, an outdoor stage and drink specials. The doors open at 7 p.m.

The Spanish Moon hosts an “80s Fright Night” Halloween ball and costume contest with live music from Rareluth, DJ Ze Idolist and DJ Gosh Zilla. The doors open at 9 p.m., and free drinks are served for ladies until 10 p.m. Cover is $8.

Dress in your best Halloween attire for the Radio Bar Halloween costume party, the official after party of Elevator Project’s “Asylum” event. Starts at 10 p.m. No cover.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Get up early for the 66th Annual Kiwani’s Pancake Festival. The event at LSU’s Maravich Assembly Center includes breakfast and student art and talent shows. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the event.

Enjoy s’mores by the bonfire, music, a corn maze, petting zoo, concessions and games all day at LSU AgCenter’s Burden Center. The event runs 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and includes 5 concession tickets. Children 3 and younger enter for free.

Join Baton Rouge Music Studios for food trucks, Halloween candy, live music and a costume contest at Fall Fest. The festival is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. 

Yelp! Baton Rouge hosts the annual Howl-O-Ween Parade at BREC’s City-Brooks Park 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The event features a costume parade and contest, food and drink vendors and booth-to-booth trick-or-treating.

Of Moving Colors presents Zombie Bash 2015 at North Boulevard Town Square. The 5K costume run and 1-mile fun-run begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a bash featuring food, drinks and music—including a performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Stick around afterward for the Louisiana Book Festival around the state capitol grounds, which also includes plenty of food vendors.

It wouldn’t be Halloween in Baton Rouge without the Baton Rouge Halloween Parade. Be sure to bring non-perishable food donations—the parade’s first unit is the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank truck and it will accept donations from the crowd. The parade rolls at 2 p.m., beginning at St. Phillip and Government streets by the River Center.

The 48th Annual Southdowns Halloween Bash at The Station Sports Bar and Grill will feature a costume contest, drink specials and performances by Orphan Annie Band. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Texas Club’s 35th Halloween Spookalooza will feature music, costumes and prizes. Free drinks 8:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

The Spanish Moon hosts its annual Halloween Ball and costume contest at 9 p.m. Costume contest winners receive a free pass to Spanish Moon concerts for a year.

Wear your costumes to Chelsea’s Cafe for Dread House, a black light Halloween party featuring live music, silent auction and drinks. The event starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door to benefit Chris’ Wish.

Lava Cantina’s throwback ’80s-themed Halloween Bash features a costume contest and live music by Hip Hop Hooray. Tickets start at $7.50. The party starts at 10 p.m.
