The very first box of golden-brown, crispy, addictive-as-heroin Cane’s chicken fingers was fried up and sold at the North Gates of LSU in the original Raising Cane’s location in 1996. Since then, there have been very few meals as emblematic of Baton Rouge as a Cane’s Box Combo. But in the hallowed halls of our culinary history, everyone believes there is only one true and anointed way to order your box.
After heated debate in our office, those of us on our staff who grew up eating Cane’s in Baton Rouge settled on this: extra Cane’s Sauce and sub out the coleslaw for an extra Texas toast. It is law.
