Go nuts for donuts in Baton Rouge.
Did you know Friday, June 5, is National Donut Day? Now you know Friday, June 5, is National Donut Day. And yes, Baton Rouge donut shops will be celebrating with specials. What kind of specials? Hey, calm down. 225 Dine called local shops to see what’s going on.
Tiger Deaux-nuts. (5162 Government St., 421-1091) The Mid City donut shop will offer an expanded menu with 10-12 flavors, including red velvet and vanilla jalapeño. Owner Jeff Herman also says everyone who comes in and makes a purchase will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win free donuts for a year. The shop’s extended hours will be 6 a.m.-1 p.m.
Thee Heavenly Donut. (17732 Highland Road, 753-7711; 5830 South Sherwood Forest Blvd., 368-0090) This local shop is offering two free glazed donuts with any purchase at all its locations. Thee Heavenly Donut’s popular specialty donuts include blueberry cake, chocolate shield and maple bacon.

Mr. Ronnie’s Famous Hot Donuts. (216 Lee Drive, 223-6116) The Houma staple now has a Baton Rouge location. Friday’s special is a dozen of any kind of donut for $7.50.
Dunkin’ Donuts. (2968 South Sherwood Forest Blvd., 295-3640; 8121 Florida Blvd., 930-7530; 9837 Bluebonnet Blvd., 302-7737) Customers can get a free donut of any variety with the purchase of any beverage all day.
Krispy Kreme. (5504 Plank Road, 357-7576) Guests will be treated to one free donut of any variety. Claim the offer here.

Mary Lee Donuts. A Louisiana staple that started more than 40 years ago, Mary Lee Donuts has eight locations in Baton Rouge. Though you can’t go wrong with a dozen glazed, chocolate-covered or sprinkled, some locations also offer Creauxssaint Donuts, or glazed croissant donuts.

Lucky Morning Donuts. (11693 Nicholson Drive, Suite A, 757-7400) This local shop across from the entrance of L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge specializes in apple fritters and blueberry cake donuts.
