New York Bagel is preparing to relocate from its Lee Drive location about a mile up the road to the former site of Fat Cow Burgers and Salads on Highland Road.
According to Jay Gomez, who owns three New York Bagel locations across Baton Rouge, the move is being made to get away from the ongoing construction on Lee Drive.
“It was an opportunity that popped up,” Gomez says of the new Highland location, which permanently closed as Fat Cow in 2022.

Business Report previously reported that Fat Cow closed by order of the 19th Judicial District Court due to delinquent sales taxes and related fees, and a search of public records revealed multiple tax liens and judgments against the business.

No date has been set for the move, as Gomez says there have been a few setbacks that have delayed plans.
The former Fat Cow building is currently being painted and has been gutted to make way for the arrival of New York Bagel.
