The former Times Bar and Grill on Essen Lane is now Patron’s Mexican Restaurant, a family-owned Mexican joint with an expansive food and alcohol menu.
Owner Javier Lopez says the menu offers both authentic Mexican cuisine and a few Tex-Mex options. Patron’s offers bold signature options like the Patron Special—a fajita stuffed with chicken, steak, shrimp and chorizo topped with tomatoes, onions and green bell peppers along with a cheese quesadilla. The special, along with most entrees at the restaurant, comes with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo.
Patron’s signature cocktails are as bold as the cuisine, Lopez says. The Patron Margarita, is a potent mix of Patron Tequila, orange and lime served in an 18-ounce glass. The restaurant keeps several beers on tap and available in bottles, and Lopez says the latest sports games are always playing on the restaurant’s 10 TVs.
