Ring in the New Year with Baton Rouge restaurants and bars


There’s no need to leave town for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve. Round up your friends, book your reservations and call up an Uber to spend your NYE swigging Champagne right here in the Red Stick. Here’s a sampling of some of Baton Rouge’s parties.

Red Stick Revelry
Downtown’s definitive NYE celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. and lasts through midnight. You can catch the festivities from several downtown eateries and bars, but your best bet will be Stroubes Seafood and Steaks, Tsunami or Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar. High rollers can join Reveler’s Row with a $150 VIP ticket that includes catered food, beer, wine and a Champagne toast at midnight.

The Pelican House
Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and drink specials make the Pelican House one of the leading contenders for your year-end festivities. Cover is $10, but if you feel like upping the ante, a $55 package buys you an open bar all night (call liquor, draft beer and red/white wine) and the $80 package includes open bar with premium liquors and premium Champagne. The party is 9 p.m.-2 a.m.

Galatoire’s Bistro
Galatoire’s Bistro finishes out the year with a prix fixe four-course menu and Champagne specials, plus live music by local jazz act the Nick Abraham Band, starting at 8 p.m. The dinner, which features citrus-poached lobster and a New York strip, costs $55 per plate. Wine specials vary in price from $20 to $135.

L’Auberge Hotel & Casino
Baton Rouge’s biggest casino will ring in the New Year with live entertainment in the Edge lounge and the Promenade beginning at 9 p.m. as well as a midnight Champagne toast on the casino floor. The Bon Temps Buffet will serve up a NYE dinner with complimentary Champagne and lobster tail 3 p.m.-1 a.m. for $39.95, while 18 Steak offers a three course NYE prix fixe menu with wine pairings for $175 per couple 5 p.m.-1 a.m.

The Melting Pot
Nothing says another successful year like melted cheese, right? The Melting Pot is offering a specially priced four-course meal starting at $39.95 per person, which includes a Champagne toast, gourmet cheese fondues, specialty salad, a choice from three main courses and chocolate fondue. Reservations are recommended.

Crowne Plaza
Crowne Plaza’s NYE spectacular offers drinks, food, entertainment and lodging all in one place. Dance to live music by Carbon Copy, Chase Tyler Band and V-Tones while dining on a special dinner by Crowne Plaza chefs and sipping drinks from the open bar. All-inclusive package prices vary, starting at $159 per person. The party starts at 7 p.m.

Camelot Club
If you’re looking for the perfect view of fireworks, it’s hard to beat the view from the Camelot Club. This luxe NYE cocktail party features hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, live music and a complimentary Champagne toast at midnight. The party is 9 p.m.-1 a.m., and tickets are $75 for singles and $100 for couples.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse
You survived another year—why not reward yourself with a fine steak? Sullivan’s four-course NYE menu includes filet mignon, lobster tail, rack of lamb and more to indulge your cravings before you hit the New Year’s resolution diet. The steakhouse’s bar will also offer live entertainment. Price to dine is $79 per guest.
