Who says concession stands are just for popcorn and pickles? At the newly named Raising Cane’s River Center, two new specialty food outlets, Ma Rouge’s Pizza & Panini and The Smokehouse Cafe, offer a much wider variety to guests during events.
“I wanted to use our culinary talent to bring our patrons more than the predictable concession fare,” said general manager Michael Day in a statement.
The two specialty food outlets are located on the lower concourse of the arena, and each has tables for patrons who want to enjoy their food and drink at a table rather than in their arena seat.

At Ma Rouge’s Pizza & Panini, everything is made fresh and guests can enjoy giant, delicious slices of cheese, pepperoni and supreme pizzas. As far as paninis, the eatery makes two versions. First, turkey bacon and Havarti paninis with sliced turkey breast, applewood bacon and Havarti cheese dressed with red onions, spinach and cranberry, served on sourdough bread. Second, a Capocollo and provolone panini featuring sliced Capocollo ham and provolone cheese dressed with an herbed mayonnaise, red onions and spring lettuce mix, served on sourdough bread.

For guests that like heartier food, The Smokehouse Cafe has got them covered with smoked in-house and freshly prepared smoked prime-rib sandwiches, spicy barbecue wings, pork spare-ribs and Louisiana crab cake sliders, each of which is more tasty than the last.

“We had our own beautiful smoker in the kitchen, and it wasn’t being utilized,” says Peter Palisi, director of food and beverage at the River Center. “So, we wanted to use that smoker and get some food out. Being in the South, a lot of people like smoked food.”
Now, when visiting the River Center for events, patrons have real food menus to choose from. From what we sampled, you can’t go wrong with anything on either menu, but you might try to choose quickly—you don’t want to miss the main event.
