Government Street will be bustling with tons of artists and local vendors Friday, Nov. 16, 6-10 p.m., as the city celebrates the annual White Light Night. But perusing Mid City during dinner time, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Here’s your guide to all things food- and drink-related at this year’s White Light Night.
Note: The locations listed below are arranged roughly from west (close to downtown) to east (at Jefferson Boulevard) along the Government Street corridor.
Electric Depot
The upcoming Mid City development is offering locals a sneak peek at the venue Red Stick Social, with works from local artists and beers from Tin Roof. A Southfin pop-up will be set up at Electric Depot, selling wasabi gras and luau bowls.

Yvette Marie’s Cafe
This cafe in the Circa 1857 antique market will stay open late. Its full menu will be available, with open bars both inside and outside.

Throughout this eclectic market, which includes The Market at Circa 1857 and other shops, guests can browse works from more than 30 artists, enjoy music, free food and grab a couple of drinks from one of the bars. See the Facebook event post here.
The Pink Elephant Antiques
Geaux Cuban and Crave food trucks will be parked outside this quirky antique shop offering a selections of sandwiches, burgers and fries. Zippy’s will also provide drinks while you browse works from more than 20 local artists. Find out more here.
Mid City Makers Market
A special Friday version of the market will feature dozens of vendors, including a few food stands.
French Truck Coffee
Stop by French Truck to check out its new patio. Alongside its normal coffee menu, the coffee shop will offer waffle sandwiches, ham sandwiches, pesto pasta salad and potato leek soup. Open until 11 p.m.
Pop Shop Records
The BouillaBabes will be posted up inside the record shop, serving a menu of roasted garlic hummus, naan wraps, baklava brownies and rose lemonade.
Simple Joe Cafe
This breakfast and lunch cafe will be open late to serve up some pulled pork nachos, quesadillas and burgers.
The Radio Bar
The neighborhood bar is currently working on a special White Light Punch and sangria along with its normal drink selection.
Elsie’s Plate & Pie
The comfort food restaurant will have a vendor outside selling hand pies, sweet pies and red beans and rice.
Doe’s Eat Place
This Government Street steakhouse will be open until 10 p.m. for some hearty eats.
Rocca Pizzeria
Inside, the restaurant will be open for regular business. Outside, Rocca will have food and cocktail samplings, including the Cobra Cayenne with blood orange simple syrup, the Cane & Able with Cane Land spiced rum and orange bitters, and the Sweet Potato High with sweet potato-infused Buffalo Trace bourbon and vanilla chai tea simple syrup. Some employees will also sell their artwork.
Curbside Burgers and Calandro’s Supermarket
Curbside and Calandro’s are teaming up to fill their parking lot with plenty of food and drink vendors, including Tin Roof Brewing Co., The Cajun Spoon, Old Soul Pickles and Swamp Dragon Hot Sauce. Curbside will serve its normal menu as well as rose, ice cream and shakes.
La Carreta
The Mexican restaurant will be hosting a tequila tasting set to kick off at 6 p.m. You can also hit them up early for happy hour at 4:30 p.m.
Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine
Posted up in front of Hair Art and Co., Mestizo will sell margaritas and wine.
Ruby Slipper Cafe
The restaurant will hand out samples of its candied bacon bites with chocolate ganache, its most popular special-event off-the-menu item, at 4414 Government St.
White Star Market
Stop by to help the food hall celebrate its first White Light Night. It’s staying open late, and some vendors will be offering modified versions of their usual menus. Mouton will keep its bar open for extended hours and will also have two outside bars on the patio for Cathead Vodka and Urban South Brewery.
Superior Grill
Head over to the Government Street restaurant early to catch Superior Grill’s happy hour from 4-6:30 p.m. and enjoy 2-for-1 margaritas and mixed drinks. You’ll also want to try the new seasonal specials, like a short rib quesadilla and duck seven-layer salad.
Soji: Modern Asian
The Asian restaurant that opened earlier this year will be celebrating its first White Light Night by offerings its regular menu along with a mobile beer bar outside.
Bistro Byronz
The restaurant will set up an outdoor bar in its front parking lot, where several employees will also be showing their art. Inside, the restaurant will be open for business as usual.
Brew-Bacher’s Grill
Brew-Bacher’s will host a food stand at the front of its Government Street location, offering a $6 special where customers can pick a main dish—a burger po-boy slider or chicken and andouille gumbo—and a side of french fries or potato salad. For drinks, you can choose between sodas and beer.
Anthony’s Italian Deli
The deli will serve $5 quarter muffulettas plus free wine, while supplies last.
Red Stick Spice Co.
This spice company will have an eclectic mix of offerings like vegan Moroccan carrot hummus, pulled chicken sliders, Louisiana sweet potato and shrimp curry, Aztec hot cocoa, Mayan brownies with spiced dark chocolate and Breaux Bridge-based Cochon Cannery’s bacon jam grilled cheese
Mid City Craft Wine & Brew
The Guest Chef and Southern Sweet will join the wine and beer market to offer chicken lollipops with a satsuma glaze, macaroni and cheese with ham and caramelized onions, and stuffed beignets.
Brew Ha-Ha!
The coffee shop will serve its normal coffee and baked goods, but will be open an hour later, until 10 p.m.
Monjunis Italian Cafe
The cafe will have a full bar set up alongside its normal menu and specials.

Reginelli’s Pizzeria
This pizzeria will have a tent set up outside the restaurant, where the team will be selling pizza by the slice—your choice of cheese or pepperoni—and garlic knots as well as beer and wine. The restaurant will serve the complete menu inside.
