Update: Curbside Burgers, Barcadia on track for Jan. openings

After several setbacks and months of delays, Nick Hufft says his two separate Curbside Burgers projects are now both on track to open in January. The Curbside Burgers food truck, which Hufft had previously told 225 Dine would begin rolling again in October, ended up needing more repairs than originally thought, pushing back its relaunch in Baton Rouge. On top of the repairs, Hufft says, the relaunch didn’t seem like a good idea during the holidays.

“We’re getting into cold weather and traffic, with everyone running around. It’s the worst time for food trucks,” Hufft says.

Curbside also plans to offer its grub at the Barcadia that’s under development in the old Serranos location at 3347 Highland Road. Barcadia was aiming to open in November, but the permitting process took four months longer than planned, says Stan Ripp, director of Louisiana operations for Barcadia.

“We’re looking to open as quickly as humanly possible,” Ripp says, adding an opening isn’t likely until after the first of the year. Hufft also manages the kitchen of Louisiana’s other Barcadia location in New Orleans. How is Hufft handling juggling the projects? He says he hires a good staff.

“I write the menu and make sure the food looks good,” Hufft says. “We’re in the hiring process right now to find a head chef in Baton Rouge.” —Kelly Connelly for Daily Report
