Zoroona adds entertainment on the weekends

Zoroona owner Bill Qasem is looking to revive his Mediterranean restaurant’s weekend business. Qasem says the grill will feature belly dancing performances each Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, and live Mediterranean music each Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. next Saturday. Qasem is optimistic that the entertainment addition will give Zoroona more of a presence on Siegen Lane. However, he says business for the restaurant has been going well.

“We’re trying to take our time,” he says. “We’re seeing how things will evolve. If things keep going the way they are right now, this will be the hottest spot in Baton Rouge.”

When Qasem first announced the opening of Zoroona, the restaurant was supposed to have a Mediterranean market next door. Qasem says he wanted to wait until the restaurant was in business for one year to see what he’d do with the additional space.

“The market is still on hold,” he says. “We might be adding to the restaurant, which would then nix the plans of the market. Once we have made it past a year, that will give us a good evaluation of what we want to do.”
