“When it comes to great tailgating, nothing compares to LSU,” Sports Illustrated wrote last November. It’s always nice for Baton Rouge to get credit where it’s due, but the magazine’s words simply reaffirmed what we, of course, already know. So this summer, we asked readers to send visual evidence: photos of their favorite LSU football tailgates. And after sifting through the submissions, we already can’t wait for LSU’s first home game Sept. 8.
BLIND TIGER TAILGATING
The fun never stops with this group at Campus Federal Credit Union—even furry tiger costumes are fair game. From good food and cold drinks to game-day music and college football on the TV, Blind Tiger Tailgating has it all.
CAJUN TIGER TAILGATING
You never know who might stop by the Cajun Tiger Tailgating spot, which sits in the shadows of Tiger Stadium—close enough to the roar of the crowd. Former LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd, LSU head basketball coach
Will Wade and LSU director of player development Kevin Faulk all passed through the tailgate last season, stopping to take photos and enjoy the festivities.
CECILE GAUTHREAUX’S TAILGATE
This group gathers between the PMAC and Cox Communications building—and they always bring the smack talk in their handmade signs. If you’re walking around campus on game day, be sure to stop by and see their sassy signs and say hey. As Gauthreaux tweeted us, “We have fun YEAH!”
KREWE DE PIRATES
Who says krewes are only for Carnival season? You’ll find this group hanging out beneath their colorful pirate flags by the College of Art & Design building. Along with tables of food, televisions and tons of seating, they also have some significant shade, which can’t be undervalued on a hot or rainy afternoon.
