225’s August 2024 issue is all about LSU fall football

Here we geaux, Tigers. Football is back. Well before kickoff, this season is already one that’ll be engraved in the history books: Tiger Stadium is celebrating its 100th birthday. The school will unveil signage commemorating the occasion, plus upgrades like a new video board and lighting system.

Meanwhile, college football will undergo another momentous change this fall. For the first time, the College Football Playoff expands from four teams to 12. With more room in the playoff conversation—and rival Alabama in the midst of a rebuilding year—the 12th-ranked Tigers know they have a shot at the playoffs.

Coming off Jayden Daniels’ Heisman season, LSU is looking to its new star signal-caller in junior Garrett Nussmeier. The Lake Charles native has been waiting in the wings since enrolling at LSU in 2021. He is aware the bar is set high—and believes the team can meet expectations.

“Ten wins isn’t good enough anymore,” Nussmeier said. “We continue to get better and mesh and grow into fall camp. It’s gonna be really fun.”

Can Nussmeier lead LSU to the newly reformatted playoffs? 225 Magazine contributing writer Mark Clements explores how the season could play out in our August cover story.

In this month’s magazine, readers will also find updates on the renovations at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo, a look at the growth of BRCC Athletics and our food critic’s take on The Saint Restaurant and Bar.

And be sure to peek at our Tiger Pride issue, an annual publication that pays homage to the passion and pageantry of LSU Football, from the religion of tailgating to the team’s traditions of athletic excellence.
