With her recognizable voice, this local radio DJ and singer keeps busy while providing a soundtrack to the workday
How would you describe your show on MAX 94.1 to someone unfamiliar with it?
My show, “Maxin’ in the Midday with LaTangela Fay,” is a one-stop shop for my listeners. I’ve etched features such as the “Did You Know News Brief” to keep it all live and local with news updates and “Field Trips” to keep us informed on the places we need to visit. If it’s a trip worth taking, it’s a trip worth talking about.
How did you get into radio? Were you told you had the voice for it, or was it something that you just got involved in over time?
I began my broadcasting career as a teenager after auditioning for “The Partners in Peace Teen Talk Show.” I enjoyed opening the line of communication on issues facing the community.
Music has always been my first love, so that part flowed well. I became a student of my favorite talk show hosts, such as Genevieve Stewart and Delilah. They kept the conversation one-on-one with listeners through the speakers as if they were having a heart-to-heart with their best friend over a cup of tea.
