Besides the art hops, art markets, makers pop-ups and other events around town we love to peruse for scrappy, up-and-coming artists, there’s a bounty of tried-and-true fine art galleries around town that can help you grow your collection. Here are several to check out.

• A leader in the Southern art community, Ann Connelly Fine Art showcases a variety of artwork from national and local professional artists, including mixed media, painting, sculpture and three-dimensional work.
• The family-owned and -operated gallery presents an array of original art from local professional artists and LSU art students. It also hosts creative workshops and classes with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
• Located in sprawling Stumberg Manor, the gallery offers custom framing and displays thousands of framed original artworks and prints, many of them Southern landscapes and scenes.
• Among handcrafted jewelry and gifts, the longstanding Caffery Gallery also offers a selection of fine art like photography, paintings, stained glass and more.
• With an exhibition space at 1010 Nic, Contemporain represents local and regional professional artists with fine art pieces, including paintings, sculpture and glass—all with an eye toward the modern and abstract.
• The family-run art gallery and custom framing shop features a wide range of antique prints, etchings, graphic posters, limited-edition prints, lithographs, serigraphs and original artwork.
• The expansive 8,000-square-foot showroom holds the works of more than 75 local artists and merchants with a wide selection of artwork, antiques, furnishings, lighting and more. It also houses a lunch cafe in the back, Heather V’s.
• You can find antiques, contemporary fine art, and folk and outsider art (including several Clementine Hunter pieces) here. The gallery helps professionals and self-taught artisans get established in the art community.

• With more than 50 vendors, The Market and its neighboring shops like Mosaic Garden combine art-based businesses in one complex with paintings, antiques and more.
• In addition to selling paintings and artwork from owner Marla Hoppenstedt, Studio de Chene showcases local artists’ collections and offers custom framing.
• Vanguard Gallery showcases stained glass creations from Stephen Wilson, as well as exhibitions from local artists.

The best part? Much of the artwork on exhibit is for sale, too. Here are a few to check out:
• More than 40 artists have private studios among the cluster of buildings at The Settlement at Bocage. With frequent open houses, like one coming up Aug. 18, visitors can meet the artists and see their work.
