And when it comes to Dylan Carpenter, he’s got a frame that’s causing college scouts across the country to take notice.
But that’s only a small part of what makes the 6-foot-4, 240-pound St. Amant star special.
Carpenter has put in the work to get to where he is right now. He’s always been on the stronger side, but he’s learned to fine tune his mechanics to help improve his game all around.
“I play aggressive, and I play smart,” says Carpenter, who likes to study NFL Pro Bowler Chase Young’s playstyle. “I have heavy hands and can get off the ball pretty fast, so that’s what gets me the plays I get. I’ve relied a lot on my strength the past few years and I try to work on my hands this offseason. So hopefully I can put that into my game this year.”
It’s not just on the gridiron that Carpenter is putting in the hours either. The rising senior also boasts a 4.0 GPA in the classroom, making him a well-rounded prospect for any prospective school.
Carpenter was already up to seven Division I offers by mid May and will almost certainly reach double digits by the time football season rolls around. But in the meantime, the Gator standout is just enjoying the process while he narrows down his big decision.
“The process is pretty fun,” he says. “You have all these coaches reaching out to you … but it’s (also) a lot of hard work to get to the point where I’m at today.”
