The freshman infielder has already established herself as a key starter for the Brusly High softball team, putting together an impressive first-year campaign boasting a .333 batting average with 23 RBI and 23 runs scored.
“(Brusly) lost their shortstop last year, so someone needed to fill in,” Loupe says. “So I worked hard and pushed myself to be better and worked my way there. It was hard to come in as a freshman … but my teammates really helped me to be a better player.”
The results paid off. Loupe’s efforts helped the Panthers roll to a 27-6 record in the regular season, capped by a No. 5 seed in the playoffs. Thanks in part to Loupe, Brusly made it all the way to the semifinals of the state tournament, upsetting No. 4 Iowa along the way.
“It was a really happy moment for us because the seniors this year had never been to Sulphur (LHSAA State Semifinals),” says Loupe, who is using the offseason to improve her game even more moving forward. “I’ve been improving on some fielding techniques like quicker feet, and also being a better leader on the team even though I’m an underclassman.”
Head coach Beau Bouvier says he already considers Loupe a leader on the team and looking at what she’s done so far in her young prep career, the best is yet to come.
