Summer Insider’s Guide: Cajun Coast Tourism

Why We Love It

Cajun Coast Tourism offers something for everyone. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a pontoon boat, jet ski or paddle board, or just hang out with friends at the Lake End Park. If you want to learn and take in the scenery, try a historic walking tour along the Atchafalaya River or a kayaking tour on the Bayou Teche. Looking to shop? Stroll down Franklin’s Main Street under the lampposts and treat yourself to something nice.

A Must Do

Embrace the Louisiana heat and get outside! The Cajun Coast offers numerous outdoor activities perfect for families, work groups, couples and even alone time. If you’re looking for an activity, try boating at Lake Palourde or kayaking on Bayou Teche. If you’re looking to slow down and relax, birdwatching along the America’s Wetlands Birding Trail is calling your name.

What’s New This Summer

Cajun Coast Tourism has a few new and exciting things coming up this summer! Enjoy Louisiana’s favorite seafood on the new “Shrimply Delicious Food Trail.” If you’re around the Morgan City area, download the new “Explore Morgan City” app to get a self-guided tour revealing the hidden history, riveting facts and Cajun culture of the city “right in the middle of everything.”

The Berwick Lighthouse was once the Southwest Reef Lighthouse before the town of Berwick brought it ashore in 1987. Today it stands on the western bank of the Atchafalaya River across from Morgan City, Louisiana.
