On Trend: Pick up a poncho

Ponchos are back! Last Saturday, when it finally felt like fall, I couldn’t get my new poncho off the hanger fast enough. Do you remember the day? Clear skies, cool air and no humidity… aka perfect poncho weather.

I bought this particular poncho a few weeks ago because of a few key elements that keep it on trend: the color, the fringe and the sleeves. While the color tan can seem a little boring, it’s actually my absolute favorite. It matches anything! Also, I’m completely obsessed with fringe right now. Fringe jackets, fringe skirts, fringe shoes—I mean, why not? I have them all. Finally, the sleeves update this poncho and make it stand out from the rest.

You can couple your poncho with numerous wardrobe pieces: jeans, patterned pants, leggings, and—for my go-getters—try a dress! Pair it with boots or fun loafers. Wear lots of bracelets, or one long necklace. It’s extremely versatile. In Louisiana the weather is anyone’s best guess, so a poncho is the perfect answer: It keeps you warm in the cool morning, yet it still lightweight enough to handle the hotter afternoon.
