Laissez les bon temps rouler! It’s carnival season and I couldn’t be happier. We live in a special part of the country where plastic beads and masks become something magical on one night a couple months out of the year. There’s something about getting all dolled up for a Mardi Gras ball that just makes me feel like a princess—long gowns, sparkly jewelry, beautiful makeup … not to mention the dancing! So let’s talk Mardi Gras ball attire, because chances are, you will attend at least one if you haven’t already.
Thankfully, every department store in Louisiana is carrying ball gowns and cocktail dresses right now for these occasions. But to stay #OnTrend, I looked at what the stars have been wearing on the red carpet. It’s the season of plunging necklines, off the shoulders and, of course, beading and sequins, which never go out of style in my book. So if you are shopping for something new, keep these styles in mind. Top it off with a nice hairdo and shiny jewelry and you are good to go!
If you ask me: Pretty shoes are what we as ladies lean toward, but dancing shoes are more practical. I made the mistake of wearing my brand new heels recently, and had to suffer the consequences. Try wearing a pair that you already own (that are nice and broken in) so you can dance the night away without blisters.
