Baton Rouge Gallery shows off works by three artists with opening reception Sept. 6

The latest works from artists Jamie Baldridge, Rosemary Goodell and Isoko Onodera will be on display at Baton Rouge Gallery Sept. 3-28.

The opening reception on Wednesday, Sept. 6, is free and open to the public. Read on for more about the featured artists.

Rosemary Goodell is a Baton Rouge resident whose home and gallery were damaged in the flooding last summer. When she temporarily relocated to New York City, Goodell worked independently in the print studio at the Student Arts League creating her collection “New York Prints” with ink, printing plate, stencils and found objects.

Isoko Onodera came to the United States from her home in Iwate, Japan, at age 22 to earn her B.F.A. and M.F.A from the University of Central Arkansas and Louisiana State University, respectively. Her new exhibition, “Marble Run,” captures the symbolic, metaphysical narrative of human nature through haunting painted figures.

Jamie Baldridge is a graduate of Louisiana State University with work featured in galleries around the world as well as two published books. This surrealist creates symbolic and stunning images about culture and the human condition. To create his newest works for the exhibition “Mortal Engines,” Baldridge photographed staged sets and digitally manipulated the pictures.

Wednesday’s reception is 7-9 p.m. Baton Rouge Gallery is at 1515 Dalrymple Drive and open Tuesday through Sunday, noon-6 p.m.
