Red Stick Social is gearing up for its Independence Weekend Music Festival this Sunday, July 3.
Enjoy live music by headliners Bad Bongo and Dominick Michael. This is a great time to gather your friends and have a spectacular evening before the Fourth of July festivities begin. Let loose and embrace your freedom.

Kick off the celebrations with a July 3rd Independence Day Parade
Ring in this year’s Independence Day with a parade. The Baton Rouge Kenilworth Independence Day Parade is celebrating its 50th year, and it’ll be one to remember.
This golden jubilee will commemorate its humble beginnings in 1973 when it was only a few residents on bicycles and lawn mowers with neighborhood children playing instruments in tow. Special guests include Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, Grand Marshall Liz Koh of WAFB Channel 9, and “Residents of the Year” Mike and Celeste Robin. This neighborhood parade has now amassed around 50 entries and thousands of spectators.
Weather permitting, the parade will start at 6:30 p.m. from the Kenilworth Science & Technology School on Boone Drive.
Watch the July 4th fireworks from the USS KIDD’s Patriots and Pirates celebration
What better place to celebrate this nation’s battle for freedom than on a battleship? The USS KIDD is throwing a grand party, welcoming all aboard this July Fourth.
The Marine Forces Reserve Band from Belle Chasse will perform its best tunes on stage; the children will have much to do on the levee green; and, at the end of it all, everyone can check out WBRZ’s Fireworks on the Mississippi. The Downtown Business Association has arranged for a River Road Market offering food, beverages and a variety of art vendors on site.
Though this event is free, V.I.Ps (Very Important Patriots or Pirates) get access to the museum, food and drinks, entrance into the USS KIDD at 8 p.m. and the best seats in the house when the fireworks spark. The celebration will take place on the Baton Rouge Riverfront at 300 S. River Road. The V.I.P. event begins at 5 p.m. and V.I.P. tickets cost $50; click here to purchase.
Rock on the rooftop with LSU Museum of Art’s July 4th bash
Support art and watch fireworks all at the same time on Monday at the LSU Museum of Art’s 17th annual Fourth of July Rockin’ on the Rooftop BBQ Bash.
Come to the Shaw Center for the Arts’ Pennington Rooftop Terrace in time to view WBRZ’s Fireworks on the Mississippi. There will be rockin’ music by local band Sweet Southern Heat, BBQ brought to you by City Pork, and a cash bar serving soft drinks, water and a specialty drink from Three Roll Estate. The event happens rain or shine.
The Shaw Center for the Arts’ Pennington Rooftop Terrace is at 100 Lafayette St. on the sixth floor. Tickets are $60 for non-museum members, $50 for museum members, $40 for children 6–12 and free for children 5 and under; buy tickets here. This event will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Watch the July 4th fireworks from Port Allen
There’s lots of fun happening in Downtown Port Allen and the Mississippi River Levee Riverfront, courtesy WBR Parks & Recreation and the City of Port Allen.
From 4-10:30 p.m., bring the family for kid-friendly activities including face painting, magicians, clowns and space walks. There will be food and drink vendors serving all evening, plus live music and views of the fireworks.

Enjoy a classic American concert at the library Monday night
The Baton Rouge Concert Band is playing all the patriotic favorites this Fourth of July.
American history has been defined by music—that’s why the Baton Rouge Concert Band is coming together to perform a free concert that compiles the United States’ finest odes. You can hear marches like “National Emblem” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” alongside other patriotic tunes like “God Bless the USA,” “America, the Beautiful” and so much more. So come dressed in your best red, white and blue, and get ready to sing along.
The Main Branch Library at Goodwood is at 7711 Goodwood Blvd. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
Watch the July 4th fireworks poolside at L’Auberge’s rooftop party
Pack your beach towel for an evening at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge’s Rooftop Pool Viewing Party, in partnership with Eagle 98.1.
Geaux DJ will be spinning tunes on the rooftop from 7-10 p.m. The hotel will also host other July Fourth festivities onsite.

Head to the Plaquemine waterfront for July 4th festivities
Plaquemine’s 21st annual July Fourth Hometown Celebration is here, and there is much to do.
This celebration offers free admission to the Iberville Museum, music by the band Souled Out!, free kids’ rides and games, and booths for crafts vendors and food. There will also be a boat parade to honor veterans, and a ceremony for those veterans will be held at the end of the event. If you’re feeling competitive, there will even be a jitterbug dance contest. The night will end with fireworks.
The festival will be held at the new community center and pavilion at 57845 Foundry St. in Plaquemine. It starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. The following will not be permitted inside the event: ice chests, pets, fireworks and golf carts. Bring your own lawn chair.
