Meet up with ‘Game of Thrones’ fans at Baton Rouge extravaganza Aug. 25

East Baton Rouge Parish Library invites you to its Game of Thrones After Hours Extravaganza at the Main Library on Goodwood Boulevard Friday, Aug. 25.

This special event includes jousting (with pool noodles, of course; we don’t want any Sir Hugh situations) and an appearance by members of the local Society for Creative Anachronisms. There will be a do-it-yourself crafts area, where you can create Thrones families’ crests and let everyone know which house you support. The event also includes a trivia competition, so you should probably exclude anyone who knows nothing from your team. Attendees are welcome to wear period costumes or dress as their favorite Game of Thrones characters. (Please note: All costumes should be family friendly—so Joffreys, Ramsays and Eurons are not welcome.)

The library will also be giving out prizes, such as books and 3-D printed TV show-related items. Food trucks from Mr. Ronnie’s, Ninja Snowballs and Pullin’ Pork will also be on site with concessions for purchase (but unfortunately no wine). Even if you’re a Lannister, you won’t have to worry about paying any debts, as this family-friendly event is free and open to all ages. But please leave all direwolves, dragons and bears at home.

Tomorrow’s event begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m., because the night is dark and full of terrors. Though not technically part of The Seven Kingdoms, the Main Library will serve as a temporary Westerosi colony at 7711 Goodwood Blvd. As we Louisianians know, winter probably isn’t coming anytime soon, but rain surely is. So although most activities are planned to be held outside, they will be moved indoors if there is inclement weather.
