This week in Baton Rouge: an art reception, crawfish boil, pickleball and Jodi Picoult

Visit the Louisiana Art & Science Museum today, Monday, March 31, for Leslie Charleville: Preserving Life Through Art Reception. 

Charleville, a Louisiana artist and LASM employee, specializes in gyotaku, a traditional printmaking technique that captures the essence of marine life in striking detail. Her work includes prints of crabs, octopuses and even a spiderweb, but Charleville is best known for her large-scale alligator prints. 

The reception is at 5 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The Louisiana Art & Science Museum is at 100 S. River Road. Find more information here


Chat with a famous author Wednesday

Hear from acclaimed author Jodi Picoult this Wednesday, April 2, at Wordsmith and Wonder: An Author Talk with Jodi Picoult, hosted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Library.

During this virtual event, Picoult will discuss her latest novel, By Any Other Name, and answer questions from the audience. Picoult is the author of about 30 novels, including My Sister’s Keeper, Nineteen Minutes and Small Great Things.

Peel crawfish Thursday

Bring your appetite to Stacks Pickleball on Thursday, April 3, for its Spring Crawfish Boil. 

Enjoy all-you-can-eat crawfish, an open bar, pickleball open play and a lively atmosphere with live music.
