Help supply students with school gear on Tuesday

Donate some school supplies and have a drink this Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Crayons and Cocktails event at 13 Social.

Bring any school supplies you may have lying around or order some off of this recommended Amazon list to support The Boys and Girls Club Young Professional Affinity Group. Anyone who brings materials gets cocktails to celebrate their contribution and the new school year.

The supply drive runs from 6-8 p.m. 13 Social is at 350 Third St.

Party with local creatives Tuesday

Take part in a generative writing session with a local celebrity this Tuesday, Aug. 1. Boo Milton is hosting Write Time at the River Center Branch Library at 6 p.m.

If you’re interested in writing or maybe love poetry, this event is for you. Write Time features a live DJ and free refreshments, as well as the opportunity to connect with other local creatives.

Registration is free and the event takes place at 250 North Blvd. Write Time has a recommended age range of 18 and older.

Make a back-to-school sign Wednesday

Bring your kids to celebrate the new school year this Wednesday, Aug. 2, when the Fairwood Branch Library hosts their School Sign Storycraft event at 11 a.m.

At the library, you and your student can listen to stories about going to school. After that, you’ll make a first day of school sign to put in your yard or on your door.

This free event is for ages 4 to 11 and will be held at 12910 Old Hammond Highway.
