This week in Baton Rouge: Lunch and learn, a giant scavenger hunt, live music and more

Learn about Baton Rouge’s arts scene Tuesday

Head to the LSU Museum of Art this Tuesday, July 25, to lunch and learn at the museum’s latest Art at Lunch program. 12 p.m.

Luke St. John McKnight leads the event at the Shaw Center for the Arts. McKnight is a prominent voice in the Baton Rouge arts community and an advocate for the city’s creative potential.

This free event starts at noon. The museum offers drinks only, bring your own lunch. If you’re an aspiring artist, or even just want to see what the creators of the city are up to, go to 100 Lafayette St. on the third floor.


Stitch your own design Tuesday

Sewing is a skill that used to be known by almost everyone. Learn that skill for yourself this Tuesday, July 25, at Alsen Park.

Hosted by Sharp as a Needle, this event gives you the materials and instructor you need to be able to fix clothes and sew on your own. The sewing starts at 10 a.m. and is completely free.

Go down to 601 Old Rafe Mayer Road and get started on your new hobby.


Test your city knowledge in a huge scavenger hunt Wednesday

Search the city for hidden clues and do crazy challenges this Wednesday, July 26. Alley Kat Adventures’ Baton Rouge Bash Scavenger Hunt starts at 11 a.m.

You’ll have two hours to venture out with your friends and family to find hidden gems throughout the city. Each location leads to another with secret clues and riddles that will test your knowledge of Baton Rouge.

Make sure to keep an eye on your phone and check in at each location while you’re hunting. The scavenger hunt is $24 a person and starts at 521 N. Third St.


Listen to a Southern folk master Thursday

Listen to a little bit of Southern folk this Thursday, July 27, when La Divina Italian Café hosts Reece Sullivan at 6 p.m.

Sullivan has been called “the Bob Dylan of Louisiana” and has gone through many different styles of music in his life. His music takes him on tours across the South as he discovers genres and his place in them.

Grab a bit of Italian food and listen to Sullivan for free at 3535 Perkins Road.
