Food Truck Round Up: Tin Roof Brewing Co. (1624 Wyoming St.) hosts five Baton Rouge and New Orleans food truck vendors for the Food Truck Round Up. The event also features live music, giveaways from Massey’s Towne Center, and maybe even a special beer release. Noon-10 p.m.
In the Kitchen with Chef Diana: In a cooking demonstration, author and chef Diana Riley shares two select recipes from her new book Cooking on Purpose. Capital City Mac Fest: Geaux Rouge presents this celebration of mac and cheese at Curbside (4158 Government St.). Gravitational Waves and Black Holes: Highland Road Park Observatory (13800 Highland Road) is offering a variety of special programs this month. More than a hundred years ago, Einstein predicted that there were ripples in the fabric of space-time traveling at the speed of light. In September 2015, the LIGO detectors in Washington state and Livingston, Louisiana, registered for the first time a gravitational wave signal passing through Earth, created more than a billion years ago by the merger of two black holes. Professor Gaby González will describe the history and details of the observations at this meeting of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society. There is no admission fee for this event, and it is recommended for ages 14 and older. 7-9 p.m.

Take a bus tour with Red Stick Adventures: Play tourist once in a while, and go on a tour with Red Stick Adventures. City Tours visit sites like the State Capitol, the Louisiana State Museum, historic Baton Rouge neighborhoods and many more, and they run Tuesdays through Saturdays, and Mondays and Sundays by request. Offered daily, Swamp Tours consist of boat rides through Manchac Swamp. Plantation Tours explore the vast estates of River Road or St. Francisville and are also offered daily by reservation. Tours of the LSU Rural Life Museum are offered daily by reservation, as well. On Friday and Saturday nights only, the haunted plantation tours take you to the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville.
